Linebacker is arguably the weakest position group on the Seahawks' defense, but it just got a little stronger.

The Seahawks announced on Tuesday that Jordyn Brooks had passed a physical, enabling him to come off the PUP list.

Brooks tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the Week 17 win over the Jets back in January and had surgery to repair the injury.

But he can now head back on to the practice field, though the Seahawks are likely to be wary of rushing him back too quickly given their lack of other compelling options at linebacker.

Seattle brought back franchise legend Bobby Wagner from his sojourn with the Rams this offseason and also signed former Steelers first-round pick Devin Bush.

Despite some encouraging flashes, Bush struggled defending play-action in the Seahawks' preseason opener with the Vikings.

Seattle would surely be more comfortable with a healthy Brooks starting next to Wagner. Brooks, per Sports Info Solutions, ranked 13th in the NFL in Expected Points Added per target among linebackers with at least 25 targets last season.

He also has a history of making plays in the backfield, racking up 10 tackles for loss in the 2021 season.

The Seahawks face the Rams in Week 1. While Brooks' hopes of featuring in that game have substantially increased, safety Jamal Adams, nose tackle Bryan Mone and nose tackle Austin Faoliu remain on the PUP list.
