While JSN is a great receiver and has generally seen a back seat in the offense due to the talent of the top two receivers, eight receptions on the year wasn't where we projected the rookie to be after three games.
The Seahawks have to find a way to get their talented rookie more involved.
No one is talking about anything too crazy here. But, as was previously said, JSN needs more than two or three receptions per game.
The Seahawks are simply doing themselves a disservice in games where they don't get their third receiver many touches.
With the defense keyed in on slowing down an explosive running game and two dominant wide receivers, Smith-Njigba should be in a position to exploit almost any matchup if the team schemes everything up in the right way.
It may not always happen in a perfect way, but there are still ways to feed your most talented players, and the Seahawks need to find the best way to do that if they want to make their offense one of the most dangerous in the NFL.
It is already hard to argue that Seattle is doing everything right in this regard. Not scoring any touchdowns in the first half against the Panthers was a travesty. This team is capable of far more, even against a good defense like Carolina's.
It may take a bit of time for the rookie to mature and find his true role on this offense, but the Seahawks will get better offensively if they find a way to make more of Jaxon Smith-Njigba as a volume pass-catcher.
