A year after getting him in return for Russell Wilson, Shelby Harris is to be released by the Seattle Seahawks.

Per Mike Garafolo, Harris will be let go after the club attempted to trade him prior to free agency.

A ninth-year player in 2023, Harris made a name for himself with the Denver Broncos after originally beginning his career with the Oakland Raiders. Harris spent five years in Denver, becoming one of the more unheralded interior defensive linemen in the NFL. He would go on to re-sign with the team on a three-year, $27 million contract.

Harris played only one year with the Broncos under that deal before being traded to Seattle in the Russell Wilson blockbuster. In 15 games with the Seahawks, he recorded just two sacks and five tackles for loss. Pro Football Focus graded him out at 74.8 for the year.

Harris will likely attract defensive tackle-needy teams looking for a veteran presence.  but his age likely kept teams away from trading for him with just one year left on his contract.
