A dream scenario is rolling out for the Seattle Seahawks in both the NFC and the NFC West.
Not only is Seattle firmly in a playoff spot in the much weaker conference overall, but there is actually an outside chance that is starting to form that could help Seattle earn the top spot in their division.
With both the Seahawks and the 49ers sitting with two losses, Seattle could start to look like the better overall team if injuries and Brock Purdy keep hampering San Francisco's chances.
There is a lot that plays a role in a team having good chances in a playoff race, but the biggest comes down to the quarterback-head coach combination. The 49ers have the obvious advantage at head coach, but Seattle has easily proven that they have the much better quarterback.
It seems like the Brock Purdy MVP train is starting to lose some steam. Probably for the best.
As Purdy's supporting cast starts to disappear, that impossible 9ers offense has started to slow down dramatically, and this is an offense-first NFL. This has led to two losses in a row, and that has opened the door for a team like Seattle to start imposing their will on the division.
The Seahawks have an extremely consistent quarterback, one of the best wide receiver rooms in the NFL with the right combination of talent on top and depth, and a defense that is finally starting to establish itself.
If there is a more exciting defensive prospect in the league than Devon Witherspoon, we would like to know who that is.
If this defense can continue taking steps and get even close to the middle of the league, which is where it looks like they are at already, everything else should take care of itself.
The Seahawks have an opportunity and the advantages that matter, and the 49ers have created an opening for another team to step into the top spot if they can't get healthy fast.
If the Seahawks can win this weekend and take care of business against one of the better defenses in the league in the Browns, that would all go a long way towards putting Seattle in position to emerge as one of the best teams in the NFC.
