Seattle Seahawks legend Richard Sherman has carved out a nice life for himself since his playing days ended after 2021, but now he's potentially facing charges after what appears to be a bad decision.
Sherman was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday morning in King County, Washington. Sherman was booked at 4:51 a.m. PT, according to King County records, via The Athletic.
This isn't Sherman's first run-in with law enforcement when it comes to driving under the influence. Sherman was arrested back in 2021 and charged with five misdemeanors after he allegedly crashed his car into a construction site and then tried to force his way into his wife's home.
Sherman eventually pleaded guilty to two of the charges: negligent driving in the first degree and criminal trespass in the second degree (non-domestic violence), as well as an infraction for speeding in a roadway construction zone, per ESPN's Jenna Laine.
Per Washington State law, negligent driving in the first degree is considered when "a person is guilty of negligent driving in the first degree if he or she operates a motor vehicle in a manner that is both negligent and endangers or is likely to endanger any person or property, and exhibits the effects of having consumed liquor or cannabis or any drug or exhibits the effects of having inhaled or ingested any chemical, whether or not a legal substance, for its intoxicating or hallucinatory effects".
Sherman played 11 seasons in the NFL and was not only a five-time Pro Bowler, five-time All-Pro, and one of the best cornerbacks in the game, but he was a key part of the Legion of Boom – Seattle's dominant secondary that was a key force behind winning Super Bowl XLVIII. He is currently an analyst on Amazon's Thursday Night Football.
