The Seattle Seahawks are currently sitting in a very nice position for the 2023 season.
With the rest of the division fielding lesser quarterbacks and really only one other real contender for the title of NFC West, the Seahawks are not far off from being back to the success they experienced under Russell Wilson.
The Cardinals choosing to bench one of their highest-ceiling players would only help Seattle in that endeavor.
The Seahawks are fortunate to be in a division with the team that most of the NFL world sees as the best candidate to be the worst in the NFL in 2023.
The Cardinals are a mess with a joke of a head coach right now, and while he can often become a double-edged sword, Kyler Murray is often one of the biggest redeeming factors for this team.
Without a good quarterback-head coach combination, it's really hard to win much in the modern NFL, and the Cardinals could have the worst by far if Kyler Murray doesn't play in 2023.
The Cardinals are currently in a bit of a weird spot. Even if Murray does play, this looks like a team that should be in the hunt for Caleb Williams from the first week.
Murray playing probably doesn't change that.
However, Murray playing may not be in Arizona's best interest, as explained above.
If Murray plays and gets hurt, which is extremely likely based on his history, he is in line to become a massive headache for the Cardinals with some hefty sums of guaranteed money coming his way.
The Cardinals are obviously incentivized to lose, and now they have a reason to bench their best play at the most important position in the sport without fear of the rest of the league calling them out for openly tanking.
If Murray doesn't play, the Seahawks should get two easy wins against the Cardinals and will then be in a two-team race against the 49ers for the top spot in the NFCW, a race that favors Seattle if you look at the previously-mentioned head coach-quarterback combination.
Seattle has been able to do this a lot this offseason, but sitting back and laughing feels like the best response yet again.
Seahawks just laugh as rival makes massive mistake
It is always a great feeling to see an opponent make an obvious mistake.
