Seahawks' rival puts intense pressure on Seattle to make a move

While the Seattle Seahawks were still able to win on their bye week with a Rams loss that keeps them firmly in a wildcard spot for the playoffs, it is also true that more work is always needed for a team that has a similar ceiling to Seattle's.
This team can truly be great. Not just wildcard great-deep playoff contending is on the table.
However, there is a pretty massive boulder in the way of making that happen in the form of the San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle is going to need to keep making moves if they are going to keep any steam in the arms race that is the NFC West.
While a quick look at the Seahawks' roster would reveal very few holes or needs for big free agent/trade moves, the same could've been said about the 49ers.
That didn't stop the 9ers from going out and trading for Randy Gregory to beef up their already-stout pass rush.
Good teams are content with where they are at. Great teams never stop looking for ways to get better.
While the straight Super Bowl results over the last few years aren't there, it feels like the 49ers, Dolphins, and Bills never stop going out and getting talent through one manner or another, and that has led to plenty of success in the short term.
The Seahawks need to replicate this with their design.
As it stands, the 49ers are going to be a tough, tough team to match up up against, and that is just when talking about getting to and potentially winning the NFC Championship.
Getting past them is only one part of the issue. A victory against the 9ers when it matters just gives you a chance to go up against another high-powered team like the Chiefs, Dolphins, or Bills, and that is daunting enough on its own.
All of this is to say yes, the Seahawks are in a good spot and look like they can make some noise this season, but Seattle is in an interesting spot where it can keep making moves to get even better and compete without sacrificing the future.
Fans of Seattle would probably be more than happy seeing the team make the playoffs and put up a good fight against top-tier talent, but why stop there history tells us that a few aggressive moves can dramatically change the in-season success odds?
The answer should be simple for the Seahawks. Learn from your enemies to defeat them. It is a tried and true model for success.
