The Seattle Seahawks had an eventful weekend and may have made all the right decisions based on some new odds that are coming out.
The Seahawks took two players in the top 12 in cornerback Devon Witherspoon and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The two picks solidified the Seahawks as having one of the best draft classes in the league, and the day two and day three picks only added to that notion.
The Seahawks have a chance to do something special with their two picks though. For JSN, they can have their first-ever Offensive Rookie of the Year, as he has the sixth-highest odds according to Vegas Insider.
For Witherspoon, he could be their first-ever Defensive Rookie of the Year. According to Vegas Insider, Witherspoon has the fourth-highest odds at +1100 behind Will Anderson, Jalen Carter, and Tyree Wilson. That is a bet I'd be willing to take, especially since last year's DROY was a cornerback.
It's really crazy when you think back in the history of the Seattle Seahawks defense, that they have never had a DROY. The year Richard Sherman was a rookie, Von Miller won the award, and rightfully so. The year Bobby Wagner was a rookie, Luke Kuechly won the award, and rightfully so.
Even if Witherspoon doesn't win it, you can tell that what the Seahawks are doing in their secondary is special. It's almost like they are trying to bring back the Legion of Boom. Witherspoon, Tariq Woolen, and Quandre Diggs can be a special unit this next year, and I'm ready for it.
