The Seattle Seahawks want to get much better on defense. After they let the Rams and a skeleton crew score at will on offense, Seattle has to recognize that this defense could be bad enough to keep an otherwise playoff-ready team out of the playoffs.

Part of the issue is that Jamal Adams, the most expensive player on the roster, isn't making an impact.

This is no fault of Adams', but the most expensive player on a team that gets nothing out of its star is a tough pill to swallow. The money situation doesn't help either.

The dead money situation with Adams in Seattle is brutal. Not only has Adams not played in 2023 and is already set to miss the first two games, but he is on the books in 2024 with a dead cap hit of $20.83 million.

What does this mean for the Seahawks?

Well, in short, it means that Jamal Adams isn't going anywhere, even if he doesn't play between now and then end of next season.

This is as rough a spot for any team to be in with a star that that is a little to injury-prone.

Adams epitomizes why teams get nervous about giving out too much guaranteed money. Again, it might be hard to expect, but that is how teams end up with stars that eat up cap space without living up to the money on the field.

One way or another, the Seahawks better hope they can get one of their most important players back on the field as soon as possible.
