Quandre Diggs has established himself as one of the most prolific playmakers at the safety position, and this week the Seahawks star offered an insight into why he has been so successful at creating turnovers.

Diggs was asked on Twitter about an interception he recorded during the Seahawks' overtime loss to the Raiders last season. It was a play on which Diggs abandoned his responsibilities in zone coverage and broke across the field to pick off a pass intended for the tight end going up the seam.

He was kind enough to respond to the query, with his informative reply providing a window into how film study influenced a crucial play.

Diggs explained that the coverage was quarters to his side of the field, and that when he saw the switch release between the receivers to his side he knew they would not be throwing in that direction, freeing him up to break the opposite way and make a play on the ball.

Approaching his ninth season in the NFL, Diggs has the benefit of substantial experience and, in recent seasons with Seattle, it has paid significant dividends.

Indeed, Diggs has recorded 14 interceptions over the last three seasons. Among safeties, only Justin Simmons (16) has picked off more in that span.

That production has seen Diggs named to three consecutive Pro Bowls. He is an integral part of a Seattle defense the Seahawks hope will be much improved in 2023. For Seattle to make those strides, they will likely need Diggs to continue to use his wealth of knowledge and clear aptitude for film study to make momentum-changing plays.

And if his acumen in that regard rubs off on the rest of an extremely promising secondary, Seattle's defense will be in an excellent spot long term.
