Just days after losing linebacker Jordyn Brooks to the Miami Dolphins, ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that the Seattle Seahawks have signed former Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker to a one-year, $7 million contract.

The Seahawks were in desperate need of a linebacker after losing not only Brooks, but also Devin Bush and All-Pro Bobby Wagner. Baker was a 2018 third-round pick for Miami and has 82 career starts under his belt. He's a fast, athletic player who possesses good coverage skills and can get downhill quickly against the run.

Baker is joining a Seattle defense that finished 31st in the NFL against the run and 30th in overall defense last season. He has recorded three 100-plus total tackles seasons and has 22.5 career sacks.

Baker is coming off a bit of an injury-plagued season, missing four games due to a knee injury and missing the Dolphins' wild-card postseason game with a wrist injury. If Baker has a healthy and productive 2024 season with Seattle, he could land himself a lucrative long-term deal next year.
