The Seattle Seahawks will meet the New England Patriots for a Super Bowl clash in just about a week and a half. The time in between conference title games and the Super Bowl doesn’t slow down predictions and hot takes, though.

The latest prediction slate from ESPN may actually concern fans of the Seahawks, as it pertains to their chances of hosting the Lombardi Trophy this year.

Seahawks clean sweep ESPN predictions for Super Bowl winner

In a breakdown piece for Super Bowl LX, ESPN relayed plenty of statistics, insight, and expectations for an existing game between Seattle and New England. The social media buzz from their takeaways, however, have centered around their winner predictions.

Every single analyst/reporter involved chose the Seahawks to beat the Patriots. There was not one Patriots winner prediction for the grand daddy of them all in the NFL. All eleven chose in favor of Seattle.

“Tucked away in the Pacific Northwest, coach Mike MacDonald and the Seahawks quietly built on their 10-7 record in MacDonald’s first season, winning the NFC West and earning the No. 1 seed in Year 2. In his first season in Seattle, quarterback Sam Darnold joined Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks to put together back-to-back 14-win seasons. Boasting the top scoring defense (17.2 points allowed per game), the Seahawks also received a midseason boost with the acquisition of wide receiver Rashid Shaheed. His standout play as a return specialist provided sparks in multiple key wins.” — ESPN

For Seattle, this should be a great thing, right? Right? (!!)

Well, maybe not. Over recent years, we have seen a social media buzz and overall narrative spark when it comes to teams who top-flight analysts all choose to win. Whether it is a live show on ESPN, a pregame segment on CBS, or anything in between – we continually see the team who receives every prediction to win fall short in the matchup.

Of course, there is not specific data to back this sort of concept up, but the baseline has been clear. Freezing Cold Takes, a popular social media account, has dominated the interaction market on Twitter/X for taking advantage of this “jinx” with screenshots from shows or websites.

Team accounts across plenty of pro sports have even gotten in on posting about this jinxing idea as well, spreading it at every turn when they get doubted ahead of a big game.

Will this ESPN article chock full of useful numbers and information also fall victim to this sort of curse due to the agreement in predictions? Only time will tell.

Regardless, the upcoming Super Bowl is one with plenty of fun storylines and key players to keep on your radar. Super Bowl LX will be on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers.
