Seahawks superstar rookie suffers brutal injury blow in practice that could cost him playing in Super Bowl LX
This could be a costly blow to the Seahawks just days before their epic Super Bowl matchup.
With just days before the Seattle Seahawks revenge tour against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, the Seattle Seahawks have suffered what could be a significant blow to their efforts to contain MVP candidate and New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.
Rookie safety Nick Emmanwori suffered an ankle injury during the Seahawks’ practice Wednesday when attempting to defend a pass in practice. The severity of the injury is unknown as of the time of this writing, but the team will be taking him in for further imaging.
Nick Emmanwori loss stings stingy Seahawks defense
Emmanwori has emerged as one of Seattle’s most integral defenders ever since the team selected him in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The safety-slash-linebacker has added a tremendous boost of speed and playmaking to their defensive front as a pseudo-SAM linebacker, and he played a key role in the Seahawks’ victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship.
Now, the Seahawks have to wonder just how ready he’ll be just a few short days before the biggest game of their season in Super Bowl LX. Emmanwori figured to be a critical component of their defense in keeping Drake Maye contained, negating Hunter Henry, and limiting the explosive plays the Patriots have done a tremendous job of creating all season long.
Again, as of the time of this writing, no news has broken as far as the severity of his injury, but with just a couple of practices left before the Super Bowl, there has already been some worry about his availability for the Super Bowl. The Seahawks listed him as limited on their practice injury report for today.
This Emmanwori news adds more onto Seattle’s injury worries, as left tackles Charles Cross (foot) and Josh Jones (ankle, knee), quarterback Sam Darnold (oblique), and fullback Robbie Ouzts (neck) were also declared limited for Wednesday’s practice.
We will find out more about Emmanwori’s injury and further status on Thursday, as the Seahawks are set to practice at 2:15 PM local time.
