Seahawks trade for defensive line help

Seattle is sending a 2026 6th-round pick in exchange for Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris, according to Mike Garafolo.

Robertson-Harris is an eight-year veteran in the pros. The veteran DL has played in all six games for the Jags this year, totaling two sacks and seven tackles. Jacksonville has been one of the worst teams in the AFC so far this season, so they've begun their selling sooner than later.

He will come in and make an immediate impact for Seattle, due to injuries upfront on the defensive side of the football. The Seahawks are also 27th in the league when it comes to rushing yards allowed per game.

Expect the veteran to play a role in trying to improve that sector of the defensive unit.

Impressive rookie DL Byron Murphy has missed the past three games since sustaining an injury in Week 3. That's played a major role in their struggles upfront.

In the first three games, Seattle allowed 116.3 rush yards per game, holding opponents under 100 yards twice. Over the latter three, the Seahawks have given up 173 rush yards per game — allowing a season-worst 228 yards in Week 6 to the Niners’ second- and third-string running backs. — SI.com

Robertson-Harris is under contract for two more years after this current NFL season. Seattle could cut him after this season, though. There is no dead cap hit for him if they choose to go that route.

Regardless, this move makes plenty of sense for Mike MacDonald and the Seahawks, who are looking to get back on track in Week 7.
