Michael Gallup works out for Seahawks
The Seahawks are hosting former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup for a visit. Gallup, previously retired, is only 29 years old and eyeing a return to the NFL this season.
The former Cowboys wideout signed with the Las Vegas Raiders last offseason. He did not make it through the full camp process before the preseason, though. Gallup chose to retire following OTAs and minicamp for the Raiders.
Gallup already visited with the Washington Commanders this offseason. It remains to be seen if he will take more visits or attempt to sign with one of these NFC options. If it was going to be Washington, you'd think that would have happened already.
The veteran wideout totaled 266 receptions for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns in six seasons with the Cowboys. They released him in the spring of 2024 to improve their salary cap situation.
Seahawks WR room
For Seattle, they've retooled nearly all of their WR room entering next season. They released Tyler Lockett and traded DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In free agency, they signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling and former Pro Bowler Cooper Kupp.
Adding Gallup as purely experienced depth could make sense for Seattle, but they should not completely rely on him as a potential WR3. It's unknown how much juice he has after a year off and multiple injuries earlier in his career with Dallas.
Let's see if the two sides come together for a deal or not. Seattle hasn't been afraid of unique moves so far this offseason.
