NFL Draft: Seattle Seahawks host Jordan Howden for a top-30 visit
The Seattle Seahawks are still concerned about DBs as they host Minnesota safety Jordan Howden for a top-30 visit.
Despite the assurance of free-agent signing Julian Love and tendering Ryan Neal along with Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams under contract, defensive back still appears to be an area of concern for the Seattle Seahawks.
At least, that is what last week's report indicated, as it was released that the Seahawks planned to host Minnesota safety Jordan Howden for a top-30 visit following his pro day.
The news of Howden's visit with the Seahawks and private workout with the New Orleans Saints was first reported by Ryan Fowler, an analyst for The Draft Network.
Howden is an intriguing prospect. His measurables checked in at 6-foot-0, 203 pounds with 32.5″ arms and 9.5″ hands. He is projected to be a Day 3 selection in most mock drafts. But that doesn't mean he doesn't possess a surplus of potential.
As a returning starter for the Gophers, Howden played in all 12 games. He collected 43 tackles and broke up five passes. But counting stats aside, what is impressive about Howden is that he played in all five seasons of his college career. That is quite unusual, and it suggests a certain level of durability from week to week.
His career honors include the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl (2023), All-Big Ten Honorable Mention (2022, media), Academic All-Big Ten (2021, 2020, 2019), and Quad Team Member (2018).
Additionally, the Seahawks met with Boise State's JL Skinner and Florida State’s Jammie Robinson. Both are ranked among the top 10 in their position.
It is clear that despite all the free agency moves at defensive back positions, the Seahawks are still looking to sure up the secondary ahead of a season that will feature expectations, unlike 2022.
