The Seattle Seahawks have officially inked their contract with quarterback Jalen Milroe. Milroe, per the Seahawks Public Relations team, is the ninth member of Seattle’s 11 player 2025 draft class to put pen to paper and sign his rookie contract. There’s little wiggle room for negotiations with these rookie signings thanks to the Collective Bargaining Agreement’s predetermined rookie wage scale, but the fine details of rookie contracts can still require a bit of back and forth in the classification of bonuses and things of that nature.
For Milroe, he’s simply happy to get the formalities out of the way and push play on his bid to developing with Seattle. With the Seahawks’ first day of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) a week from today, Milroe getting his contract signed puts him in position to be full steam ahead with the offensive install without distractions — which will be helpful to be a part of as the whole team continues their work with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Milroe’s outlook with Seattle is a unique one, as his current strengths could serve as a viable “change of pace” or specialty role as a foil to new starting quarterback Sam Darnold. But given just how physically gifted Milroe is and Seattle’s limited commitment to Darnold in the form of guaranteed money after 2025, the former Alabama quarterback should attack his personal development with gusto.
There’s a real chance that Milroe, with enough improvement, could allow Seattle to bypass the additional $17.5 million of Sam Darnold’s salary that guarantees for 2026 early in the offseason next year.
There’s a lot of football to be played between now and then, but that’s all the more reason for Milroe to be glad all these formalities are behind him. The 92nd overall pick in this year’s draft can now attempt to seize the moment and prove to his new team, both behind the scenes and in whatever limited opportunities he receives throughout the 2025 season, that he can be “the man” long-term in Seattle.
