Day one of the 2025 NFL Draft came and went and the Pittsburgh Steelers didn't draft a quarterback.
And if they want to draft one on day two, barring a last-second trade, they will have to wait until round three. Number 83 overall, to be exact.
Well, according to GM Omar Khan that might be ok, and there is one name who makes a lot of sense…
Steelers can target Will Howard on day two of 2025 NFL Draft
Will Howrad has 10 years of being a pro written all over him, but it's more likely to be as a backup than a starter. That doesn't mean he can't develop into one however. There are things you watch and appreciate about his game, including football intelligence, dual-threat ability, and textbook fundamentals.
He's also incredibly tough both mentally and physically, can lead a room, and has a championship pedigree after transferring into OSU, getting buy-in from his teammates, and leading them to a championship in just 12 months.
But he has very little to offer in terms of arm talent, and he played with the best offensive surroundings in the nation, not to mention a former NFL head coach at offensive coordinator and Ryan Day as the head man. He's a good player that I have no doubts about as a great guy to have in the room, and at least a tidbit of starter upside.
At over 6-4 and close to 240 pounds, he checks the size box for Pittsburgh. Add in the modern dynamics of a being a runner and the Steelers will be interested. Oh and Omar Khan said in his pre-draft presser that round three offers some talented passers…
"I think we’re going to get a good player in the third round," said Steelers GM Omar Khan on the QBs in the class.
You also can't forget how high the Steelers are on Ohio State products. Cam Heyward, Santonio Holmes, and Justin Fields, are just a few from a school that Pittsburgh targets along with SEC powerhouses.
So if Khan sticks true to his word and the Steelers do take a QB, Will Howard is the name to watch in round three on Friday night.
