Amidst the chaos that is free agency, it can be easy to forget that the NFL draft is a little over five weeks away.

The next stage in the pre-draft process is fully underway and it includes the Pro Day circuit.

Well, the Clemson Tigers held theirs today and the NFL world couldn't help but notice the contingency of Steelers personnel in attendance.

That's a long list of coaches and personnel alike, with the key decision-makers at the top.

If you're new to the pre-draft process perhaps the importance of this showing is being understated.

Right now is the busiest time of year in the NFL with free agency in full force and the draft on it's heels.

So while NFL organizations are more aptly over-staffed than under, it doesn't mean they won't wear thin, especially in a blue-blood franchise like Pittsburgh.

To have your:

  • General Manager (Omar Khan)
  • Head Coach (Mike Tomlin)
  • Defensive Coordinator (Teryl Austin)

All in one place is telling.

It should be noted that the list of prospects runs deep at Clemson, with prospects all around the front seven at areas of both need and strength in Pittsburgh.

So maybe the Steelers just wanted to head down south for some warmer weather and nice hospitality while they enjoy scouting a group they know best.

Or maybe, Pittsburgh just tipped their hand as to what's coming on April 27th, in round one of the draft.
