One of the many traditions on draft weekend is the announcement of newly selected draft picks, by former or active players on said teams franchise. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce did so last night, announcing the Kansas City Chiefs 31st overall selection while boasting their Super Bowl trophies around the stage.

Well, those two may be locks for the Hall of Fame when they hang up their cleats, but the Steelers will have a former member of the black and Gold who already dawns the gold jacket on stage tonight when they make their pick.

Who do you ask? Let's find out.

Thats right, fan favorite and Steeler legend Alan Faneca. Faneca is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of the franchise with an extensive resume of individual and team accomplishments that include:

  • 9x Pro Bowler
  • 6x All Pro
  • Super Bowl Champion
  • Hall of Fame all 2000's team
  • NFL Hall of Famer

With two picks still scheduled to occur at 32nd and 49th overall as of writing this, perhaps Faneca's resume will rub off on the future Steeler he announces, as any pick in the top 50 is a prize possession.

We as Steelers fans can only hope.
