Before Sunday's season finale between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, head coach Bill Belichick stood on the field chatting with Aaron Rodgers. And the two shared stories, smiling and laughing together.
After the game, Belichick made sure to take a moment to speak to Rodgers once again.
With this ultimate show of respect for the quarterback, Rodgers opened up about what he and the future Hall of Fame coach spoke about when appearing on The Pat McAfee Show.
"I've always had great respect for (Bill Belichick)," Rodgers said. "And we were actually talking about a snow game in 2019 in MetLife, when the Packers played the Giants."
"I think it'd be so fun to have a scotch with Bill and just talk ball because his knowledge of the game, his ability to recall things."
Rodgers made the jump to the AFC East at the beginning of the 2023 season, signing with the New York Jets and because of that, he was scheduled to play the Patriots twice.
However, after tearing his Achilles 75 seconds and only four plays into the season, Rodgers was sidelined. And while he tried to complete a miraculous recovery, the Jets struggles this season led to him and the team deciding that it would be best to let him sit out and focus on 2024.
Rodgers and Belichick are both expected to be Future Hall of Famers, so it makes sense why they hold so much respect for one another. And Rodgers even offered a small thought on what he thinks is next for Belichick, even if he and the Patriots go their separate ways.
"I don't think he's done," Rodgers shared. "I think the NFL is better with him in it and I'm thankful for all the little moments I've gotten to share with Bill over the years."
