Baker Mayfield never really got a fair shot from some Buccaneers fans when he arrived in Tampa.

Many people couldn't get past Mayfield being a member of a team as bad as the Browns. Other doubters were fans of former quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Jameis Winston. Some worried about the Bucs team and how it may not mask Mayfield enough.

Whatever the reason for the doubt, Mayfield and the Bucs have done everything in their power to shut that down for two weeks, and the Mayfield hype train is officially off.

Mayfield isn't a bad quarterback, he was merely an inconsistent QB, and with good reason.

Switching teams, offensive coordinators, and head coaches at a near-constant rate meant Mayfield was almost always in a less-than-ideal spot, and that showed in a stat line that was very similar to Jameis Winston's over their first four years in the NFL.

The doubters weren't without reason. They are just without ammunition for the time being.

Mayfield has done everything asked of him over the first two games. The first game was a little shaky at the start, but the results since that point have spoken for themselves.

Tampa's newest starting quarterback has done everything that Todd Bowles could want for his offense. The consistency has been there-Mayfield has been a great game manager, and he has even found chances to make big deep throws like the one to Mike Evans today.

These skills have paired very well with Dave Canales' new offense in Tampa, creating an offensive product that will put up points and play complementary football with the defense.

More touchdowns would be nice, but the Bucs are getting so much out of their defense when it doesn't have to get on the field so often, and that by itself should be enough to keep these team competitive will all comers this year.

No player is perfect, but there are plenty to play well enough to earn their jobs in the eyes of the public, and Baker Mayfield has done just that through two games with the Buccaneers.
