In the NFL world, it's important to rid yourself of whatever emotion(s) come with a loss. It's all about what's coming next, considering the season is a marathon. If teams or players spend too much time thinking about the past, it can easily consume their collective futures.
So, in regard to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' upcoming matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, it's important to keep up with any important news that affects Arthur Smith and co.
Sure enough, the Buccaneers were treated to some "positive" news involving their NFC South rival.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport the Falcons will be without star running back Cordarrelle Patterson for the next four games. Patterson had a minor procedure on his knee and the Falcons placed him on IR afterward.
"Hes been battling a knee injury [and] tried to give it a go on Sunday," Rapoport said Monday on NFL Network's NFL Now. "In the end [he] needed a procedure, which happened this morning. [It's a] relatively minor procedure, so [he] should be back right after four games."
It's a big blow for the Falcons, but a major break for the Buccaneers. Patterson is one of the Falcons' top playmakers on offense and he had success against the Buccaneers when the two teams met in 2021. Patterson logged 165 combined total yards along with two touchdowns during the two meetings.
The running game is also a staple of Smith's offense, so it will be interesting to see how Atlanta adjusts this week. Either way, the Buccaneers come out of Monday +1 when it comes to their next game.
