Buccaneers could benefit from unsurprising head coaching change

Based on everything we have seen tonight, it sure does look like Brandon Staley is about to be fired by the Los Angeles Chargers.
It would be shocking if Staley kept his job any longer than the closing whistle tonight with his team down 42-0 to the Raiders at halftime.
Given the fact that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also likely to move on from their head coach at the end of the year, it stands to reason that Staley could be on Tampa's radar sooner rather than later.
Even if the Bucs make it to the playoffs, it seems almost impossible to imagine Todd Bowles will remain in Tampa beyond this season. A first-round loss to a team like Dallas or Philly after a disappointing season is not how a guy like Bowles keeps his job.
Bowles getting fired would likely lead to a number of coaches on Tampa's staff getting the boot. That could then open the door for a new defensive coordinator, and Brandon Staley would certainly fit the bill.
Much like Todd Bowles after his tenure as the HC for the Jets, Staley is going to need a new place to rebuild his image as a coordinator before he gets another shot at a head coaching gig.
The performance this year has been bad enough from the Chargers that it seems unlikely that a lot of teams will be chomping at the bit to bring Staley in, and the Bucs, not always having the biggest draw, will probably take what they can get (like Dave Canales).
Despite the overall issues with the Chargers, Staley has a good resume as a defensive coordinator, and he might be a great face to pair with a Bucs team that will need another great defensive mind to replace Bowles.
There was certainly a lot to like with that 2020 Rams defense that Staley helped build. This Bucs team certainly has the weapons, so it stands to reason he could make something special with the current group.
It may not be the most exciting hire after what is sure to be an unceremonious firing that is sure to happen soon, but Bucs fans shouldn't rule it out just yet.
