The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have gotten their butts whipped on national TV, but Sunday night turned out to be a good night for a couple of Bucs in quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Mike Evans.
Brady finished the game with with 385 passing yards and three touchdowns in the 41-31 loss. He lost a fumble, but didn't throw an interception all night long. Sunday night's game was the 102nd game in which Brady has thrown 300+ passing yards and three TDs with no INTs.
Per Buccaneers Communications, no quarterback in NFL history has accomplished that feat.
But Brady wasn't alone in his record-breaking ways. Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans made history on Sunday Night Football, as well.
Evans is now the Buccaneers' franchise leader in total offensive yards from scrimmage with 9,546. He surpassed former Buccaneer great, James Wilder, during the second quarter of the matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Wilder previously held the record with 9,449 yards from scrimmage.
Evans is also tied with former Buc Antonio Brown for the most multi-receiving touchdown games (17) since 2014.
And of course, Evans was his typically-humble self when asked about passing Wilder in the record books.
“It’s a huge blessing," said Evans. "Honestly, I didn’t even know I was even close to that, but it is a huge blessing, and we’ll just keep on tacking onto it.”
Both players will tell you they'd rather have the win than these records. And that's ultimately true. But in a few years, when this win doesn't have an effect on how their current season (or wherever they are at the time), they'll certainly appreciate having their names etched in history.
