Top draft prospect Jalen Carter has had a rough month and he's making things harder on himself.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Carter's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently stated the potential top-10 pick will not interview with teams outside of the top-10. Rosenhaus and Carter both believe the former Georgia Bulldog is a lock to land somewhere in the first 10 selections of the 2023 NFL Draft and therefore, have declined meetings with anyone picking at No 11 or later.

It's a pretty bold decision and according to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers great, Gerald McCoy, it's not a smart one.

McCoy, a fellow 3-technique and former top-3 pick, should know a lot about the draft process. Especially for a highly-touted prospect. And he's right. The draft is a wild process and there are so many different people and decisions involved to the point where betting on any outcome is typically not a good idea. Unless it's a situation like the Carolina Panthers trading up for No. 9 to No. 1.

And, as we all know, they didn't do that to pick Carter. Sure, he's one of the draft's best players -if not the best player- but the recent red flags could certainly knock him out of the top-10.

All around, it's not a good decision. Not only is it a bad idea to limit your options, but aspects of Carter's personality, such as decision-making, are currently under question.

It's hard to see this decision as anything less than egotistical and smug. Confidence is one thing, but this certainly crosses the line between confidence and ego. Teams will see this and it could certainly impact their final evaluation of Carter.

Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite Carter, but only time will tell if it does.
