Three free agency predictions for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers received an excellent head start on free agency Sunday evening after Tom Brady announced his return to the team. It then became even better thanks to Ryan Jensen's decision to re-up with the Buccaneers just hours after Brady's announcement.
That's two big fish down. Three, if you want to include Chris Godwin's franchise tag. But, the Buccaneers still have a long way to go.
No sweat, right? There were a ton of questions surrounding the Buccaneers heading into free agency before Sunday. But now, the path is much, much clearer and Brady's return should help persuade some of the Buccaneers' own guys to return.
So, what's gonna happen over the coming days? Here are three predictions geared toward how everything is going to work out:
3. The Buccaneers re-sign Alex Cappa
This should be the Buccaneers' main priority in free agency. With Brady back, you protect him. At all costs. Even if it means letting a player or two walk.
Per Pewter Report, the Bucs are bracing for the potential departure of Cappa. The Buccaneers need to do whatever they can to make sure they don't lose him in free agency. Even if Jason Licht has to push money down the road. These are moves you make when Brady is your quarterback. It's that simple.
Tampa Bay's offensive line is one of the main reasons behind the team's success over the last two seasons. It needs to stay together as much as possible. Ali Marpet is retired, but 4/5 of the offensive line can stay intact if the right moves are made, which is a big deal, in itself.
The Buccaneers will realize this and will give Cappa a new deal, as a result.
2. Outside free agents won't be a target point
Just like last year, don't expect the Bucs to bring in many outside free agents. They may even completely avoid the outside market.
There are some attractive names out there that can be had at a certain cost. And there's certainly an argument to be made that the Buccaneers need to find some "fresh blood" in free agency. But I wouldn't expect the Buccaneers to bring in more than two new names, at most.
The core of this team and the effectiveness within said core is built through players who have been in Tampa Bay for a while, now. Most of them are homegrown and if they're not homegrown, then they've been with the Bucs for multiple years, now.
There was definitely a chance for an acquisition/influx of outside talent before Brady's return. But now that he's back, the Buccaneers will look to re-sign most of their guys.
Whatever pieces they can't bring back will be filled via the draft in April.
1. Carlton Davis III finds a new home
The Buccaneers priorities in free agency have looked like an EKG monitor over the last couple months. First, it was to find a quarterback. Next, it was to re-sign or tag Godwin. The focus then became on the offensive line after Marpet's retirement.
Now, with Brady back in the fold, the priorities should be to re-sign Alex Cappa and then re-sign Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette, and possibly even Giovani Bernard. Or an outside offensive playmaker.
Whatever the Bucs need to do to get Brady more weapons and more protection – the Buccaneers need to do that in free agency.
Unfortunately, this means the end of Davis' time with the Buccaneers. He'll be too expensive and with Brady back, he's on the lower end of the team's priorities.
