Kicking for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been just about the most wild ride in the NFL over the past few years.

It has usually been very good or very bad for most of the past few decades, but Super Bowl champion Ryan Succop was able to make a name for himself as one of the most consistent kickers of the century for the Bucs. His one fault? Kicks from deep, and that hurt Tampa plenty last year.

Tampa smartly decided to move on from Succop after the lack of range hurt in one moment too many last year, and their replacement of Chase McLaughlin was able to show why the Bucs signed him with just one play.

If you've been watching the Buccaneers for a while, the announcer saying "Tampa is attempting a 57-yard kick" likely put a pit in your stomach.

There were several times last year where the Bucs attempted kicks from a lesser distance than that and missed, which usually gave the opposing team the ball in a  favorable spot.

McLaughlin didn't care about the distance. He didn't care about the weight of the game on his shoulders. He ignored all of that and drilled the kick with a strength that would've been good from at least five yards further out.

The Buccaneers ended up winning the game by three. What a moment for the newcomer. Calm, cool, and collected from a distance that would cause fits to most other kickers in the league.

This distance is nothing to scoff at. In reality, this was one of the more impressive special teams moments for the Bucs over the past few years. Perhaps that is a testament to how bad the special teams have been in Tampa.

Regardless, if this game was able to show us anything, it is nice to see that the kicking woes from distance could be at an end if more moments like this happen through the season.

Hopefully McLaughlin has more of that coming for us this year.
