Leonard Fournette was a flash in the pan for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his three-year stint with the team.

Year one may have started off slow, but the legend of Playoff Lenny was born when it mattered, and regardless of how it ended, Leonard Fournette will always have a special place amongst the great Tampa running backs for what he did during that playoff run and in 2021.

Now, the Bucs made the smart decision to move off of Fournette, and the former Buccaneer has made it clear that his lack of a home right now isn't getting to him.

It has not be an easy summer for running backs. The position has lacked monetary value for a while now, and the league has started to show this in a major way with a non-existent market.

Fournette had a pretty poor 2022 season, but even then, one would think that he would be able to find a job somewhere on a running back-needy team.

That hasn't happened yet as teams go after cheaper and younger options, but Fournette isn't letting that get to him.

All things considered, Fournette is probably the top free agent RB on the market, and that should be enough to land him a job soon once injuries become a problem.

How many other 28-year olds have a limited injury history, decent production as a runner and as a receiver, and a history of playing with a team at the highest level?

The list isn't all that deep at this point, and Fournette is wise to wait for his moment. It may not happen soon, but a change should be on the horizon.
