The NFC South having three teams at 2-0 after the first two weeks was always one of the silliest storylines in the NFL to begin the year.
Despite the records, no one should've actually believed this was the best division in the NFL, and a fall back down to earth was always likely.
As the Saints and the Falcons both lost in dramatic fashion today, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have emerged as the best team in the NFC South, and they can retain that title as long as they don't completely implode against the Eagles on Monday night.
Today was not a good day for the NFC South. The Saints gave up a 17-point lead and could be without their starting quarterback (they play the Bucs next week). As for the Falcons, their desire to avoid throwing the ball continues to shine through as they don't score points.
It was messy all around.
Not only do the Bucs look better than both of these teams (and the 0-3 Panthers), but Tampa also looks like it should match up very well against all three.
The Buccaneers playing an extremely tough defense is going to give all three other quarterbacks fits-something that should lead to plenty of turnovers over the course of the season.
In addition to a stronger defense than all three opponents, the Bucs have the best offensive weapons, including the best quarterback in the division by a substantial margin.
It may be a little soon to call it, but it doesn't feel all that crazy to say this is still Tampa's division. Tomorrow night could set that in stone.
