The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the youngest teams in the NFL by what feels like a massive margin.
With 13 rookies on the 53-man roster (six undrafted free agents), this team has been able to completely depart from being one of the oldest teams in the league as recent as a few months back.
It is going to be tough some weeks, especially as some of these guys get used to the speed of the NFL, but it is going to be fun getting to know these rookies and see how they fit in with the team's vision for the future. Running back Sean Tucker could prove to be one of the most fun.
Running backs and the run game have not been a point of fun in Tampa for a while now. It looked like Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette were going to be able to help end "the rough years," but alas.
Now, the room falls to Rachaad White as the top option, a talented but unproven second-year player, and this room feels like it could quickly go towards being fun and exciting or downright painful to watch.
White is obviously going to get the majority of the share of touches to start the year, especially after flashing good upside towards the end of last season, but one guy can't shoulder the load effectively. There will be the opportunity for a second player to step up, and Tucker looks like he could become that player.
Chase Edmonds is probably going to be better than some people think and Ke'Shawn Vaughn has experience in the system, but Tucker just seems to have the "it" factor that helps so much with success in the NFL.
From explosive plays in the preseason through the air and on the ground to a really consistent preseason showing in practice week-in and week-out, Tucker did everything and then some to secure the RB3 spot in Tampa at worst (some could argue RB2 should be on the table).
It may take some time before Tucker is able to truly cement himself as the RB2 in a system that will rarely get to the RB4 most weeks, but if this offseason was any indication, the rookie is going to make the most of his touches early and take any choice away from the coaching staff.
Get ready for the breakout, because Sean Tucker is going to make a name for himself very fast.
Sean Tucker can break major curse for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Maybe it is finally over.
