There has been plenty of speculation regarding the potential pairing of Julian Edelman and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers throughout the last few months, but according to NBC Sports' Peter King, the Buccaneers already have their own Edelman on the roster.

In King's eyes, that man is the infamous Scotty "Scooter" Miller.

Yes. You read that right. King described the 2019 sixth-rounder as "Edelman-like" in his most recent version of Football Morning In America:

"They’ll probably jettison a younger receiver and keep Jones. For Brady’s sake, I hope the younger receiver isn’t the Edelman-like Scotty Miller, who should have a fourth or fifth receiver role on some team…"

"The small white guy" would've made King look smarter and more knowledgeable about what Miller's actual role with the Buccaneers is. That's how bad his comparison is.

For starters (and honestly this is point seals the deal of why King's eval is terrible), Miller isn't even a slot receiver like Edelman. He's a straight-up burner on the perimeter and is one of the NFL's fastest players – something that was never part of Edelman's game.

Per Pro Football Focus, Edelman didn't see less than 59.6% of his targets come out the slot from 2016-2019. He hovered around 50% in the years leading up to 2016.

Miller has never seen more than 32.7% of his targets come from inside and he had a career-low 11.1% target share in 2021.

Then, there's the fact that Edelman has superior hands and he makes Miller's mitts look like penguin flippers, at best. Former Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians always talked about how Miller needed to add more to his game and how he needed to learn to make the "grimy" catches that the best receivers make.

So far, that hasn't come to fruition.

Respectfully, I have no earthly idea how King came up with his evaluation/comparison. But it's an absolutely awful one. Maybe that Tampa sun got the better of him that day or something.

But one thing is for sure: Scotty Miller sure as hell isn't Edelman-like, as King believes.
