The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still in a weird spot with linebacker Devin White. While White requested a trade, the team shows no signs of looking to move on from their former first-round pick, and a lack of a market indicates White could be in Tampa in 2023.

Outside of the obvious, this is going to create a bit of a unique situation for the Bucs and White as they try to navigate who their captains will be for the team in 2023. Will White keep his role? The argument goes both ways.

On the end that most fans tend to agree with, White doesn't make much sense as a captain right now. A guy that requests off the ship once things get hard is probably not one of the few people you want representing your team in that way.

Based on everything the fans have seen, White has all but scrubbed his Buccaneers presence clean, and that is a pretty clear signal to a franchise as to where you stand.

It's tough to talk about stripping a guy of a title like this after he has already worn the C before, but White has done more to take that away from himself than the Buccaneers.

However, there is also something to be said for the team trying the course with White as their guy, especially if he comes out and says something about wanting to make the most of the upcoming season and his desire to show what he can do.

It may not sell all of the fans, but that could smooth things over between most groups and give the Buccaneers some leverage to help show White that he is wanted in pewter and red.

This writer tends to think White should lose the title based on how this has all gone down, but trying to perfectly predict what will happen to and for this Buccaneers team during such a tumultuous time is impossible. We'll just have to wait and see, but it seems like things could get weird fast.
