The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are through their first two preseason games, and the team is finally starting to reveal itself.

There are still a few depth chart battles that will matter for the next few weeks, but the most important position has finally made itself clear.

Baker Mayfield looks like he is an absolute lock to be the main guy in Tampa to start the 2023 season.

Kyle Trask was able to play well during his almost full game under center, but the way the Bucs used their quarterbacks against the Jets told the whole story.

Trask played the entire first half. John Wolford going in after Trask instead of Baker told you everything you needed to know.

If there was still an open competition (or if Bowles wanted to make it look like an open competition was still going on), the Bucs wouldn't have rested Baker like the majority of their other offensive starters.

While Bowles would say this wasn't by design, the whole situation is far more transparent than the head coach would like the rest of the world to believe. This is all clearly just preparation for Baker and the 1s to get a few clean drives together next week with a bit more rest built in.

Officially confirmed or not, the Buccaneers have at least finally made their decision clear, and that should help the team advance, as clarity with the most important position will help greatly.

Baker is the guy now. We will see how long it takes before the team starts giving some consideration to Kyle Trask.
