The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had one of the more frustrating NFL curses over the past few years. While the offense as a whole has been dominant, a lack of any consistent run game has hampered overall team production and control at various points.

One of the reasons behind this is the lack of production from players the Buccaneers invest in. It seems like most players that gets paid or drafted early by the Bucs flames out quickly, although Rachaad White looks like recent exception.

Just look at the draft picks over the past few years. Ronald Jones was drafted in the second round and got close but didn't cut it. Ke'Shawn Vaughn was drafted in the third round and has still barely played. Leonard Fournette got paid and then immediately diminished in quality. What did Giovani Bernard do? White was better, but he is one of the very few exceptions.

Looking at draft picks not named White, Jones had just 44 yards as a rookie in 2018. Vaughn had 109 in 2020. Both were terrible pass-catching backs that left a lot to be desired as blockers as well. Even with White, the Bucs are widely considered one of the worst franchises in the league at evaluating running back talent.

Perhaps Buccaneers UDFA Sean Tucker out of Syracuse can completely end that narrative definitively in 2023, especially since every other team in the league passed him up.

The good news for Tucker is that he joins a very weak Buccaneer backfield where he can make an immediate impact and prove himself. Rachaad White looks like the starter for now, however nothing is set in stone. Outside of White, no one else in the room has a set role for anything, and changes likely need to come if the Bucs are serious about improving the overall quality of their run game.

This is where a player like Tucker, a dominant college athlete with 3,182 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns that averaged 5.4 yards per carry, can truly make a name for himself in a way that most of his predecessors did not.

This may sound like a long shot for a guy that didn't even get drafted that is set to sit behind one of the few young players at the position that has actually worked out for Tampa, but Tucker's resilience and explosiveness could make him one of the outliers for this franchise.

One way or another, bet on Sean Tucker to make the roster for the Buccaneers and to play some type of role in 2023, and it is fair to say that this young back could surprise a lot of people if he lives up to his growing hype.
