Buccaneers solve biggest issue with restructures for stars
The Buccaneers keep making moves.
The next few months are going to be difficult for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Anyone that tells you differently hasn't been paying attention.
Good players are going to leave. Quality players might get cut. Moves still need to happen to get the team back into cap compliance.
The Buccaneers were in a bad spot in this regard as recent as today, but fans need to have a bit more faith in GM Jason Licht.
Licht has proven himself to be one of the best general managers in the NFL over the past few years, and a few simple moves today put that on display even further.
In a few decisions that shouldn't surprise anyone at all, the Bucs have decided to restructure deals to four of the most important players on the team.
These moves free up a huge chunk of cap space for the Bucs, and while they will spread the hit out over a few more years, these guys aren't going anywhere, so spreading a hit out like this isn't going to hurt the team in the long run as they try to get back into better overall cap standing.
More moves are certainly needed to finally get the team back into the green and into a position where it can sign the draft class and any new free agents, but this is a great start for a team that needed a spark.
