The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will always be a better franchise with Mike Evans on the field.
Evans is the best offensive player in franchise history and has a claim to being the best overall player from the franchise while also having an argument in the Hall of Fame conversation.
However, Evans also has one glaring issue in his game that has seemingly become worse in recent years; terrible, untimely drops.
While Evans is usually good for about 80-90 yards per game and about one touchdown, he also posts at least one, highlight-worthy drop during that same time.
That dichotomy has usually worked in Tampa's favor to end in a net-positive, but it feels like it has become worse in the last few years.
Perhaps that has something to do with no Tom Brady on the field.
Still, even Baker Mayfield has been playing well and found plenty of ways to hit Evans in the hands with the ball, so one has to ask why these drops keep coming.
Regardless of the reasons, this is something that the superstar has to nip in the bud immediately. A leader like Evans can't be tied to terrible plays like this every game, and it has become a common enough occurrence to argue that Evans is prone to drops.
That can't be a part of Evans' legacy in Tampa.
Evans and the Bucs still have the talent to overcome issues like this on a weekly basis, but a change needs to happen if the star and the franchise want to realize their potential this season.
Buccaneers define themselves in dominant Week 4 win
You can’t argue with those results.
