Buccaneers need to stay far away from Patriots quarterback Mac Jones

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have done just about everything right this offseason.
From finding another quarterback to compete with Kyle Trask for the starting job to the signings of guys like Ryan Neal, Jason Licht has done about as well as anyone could in a similar, cash-strapped situation.
However, while it may sound dark, there is still time for this front office to ruin everything if it makes the wrong move.
Trading for Patriots quarterback Mac Jones would be one such move.
Jones has been linked to the Bucs since Tom Brady first retired. It didn't make sense then and it doesn't make sense now with news coming out that Jones could be on the trade block.
Jones suffers from the same issues as Kyle Trask; a lack of athleticism, nothing crazy with his arm, and overall tape that screams "replaceable."
Perhaps that is why the Bucs didn't lean into Trask becoming the starter and why Bailey Zappe was able to create a quarterback controversy in New England.
Trask and Jones are far better-suited to the role of backup quarterback, and the Bucs going out and bringing another backup to Tampa would do nothing to help the team on the field or in the draft.
Giving up picks for a guy that isn't better than Baker Mayfield is silly, and it would be downright hilarious to see this front office go after a trio of Trask, Mayfield, and Jones as a means to save itself when it would be such an obvious mistake.
The quarterback situation may not be set for the Bucs as it stands, but going out and getting a guy that has one mediocre season and one bad one with no dominant traits is a massive mistake.
