Buccaneers lose CB Sean Murphy-Bunting to Titans
It’s hard to keep everyone.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans already knew that this was going to be a difficult free agency period.
The cap was just never in the team's favor. Players that the team would probably keep in a normal year get cut in a year like this.
Even players that help the team win a Super Bowl aren't safe.
After two seasons of diminishing play, the Buccaneers have finally made the right decision to let Sean Murphy-Bunting walk in free agency.
However, SMB is young and does flash on tape at times, so it was only a matter of time before a corner-hungry team snatched him up.
Still, while this is the right decision for the Bucs based on recent play and the cap, it is worth remembering just how impressive Murphy-Bunting's run was in the path to Tampa's 2020 Super Bowl.
Three interceptions and five passes defended played a huge role in the Buccaneers making it to and then winning the Super Bowl.
In the end, it may not have ended up working out for SMB beyond four years in Tampa, but there is still plenty of upside there for the young corner to find success with the Titans.
As for the Buccaneers, their attention should probably turn to finding another quality corner in one of the middle rounds of the draft to keep their defense humming.
