The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been a bit of a hot mess for a while now, but one of the best things going for this franchise has been the ability to keep most major issues under wraps and out of the attention of the media.
Devin White sparked a shift in that regard once Todd Bowles became head coach, and now it looks the Bucs could be alienating one of their most important players.
No one wants to see any issues with a guy as good as Chris Godwin, but a recent post doesn't look great for the relationship between team and player.
Chris Godwin would probably be the first person to say this isn't a great season for him on paper, but much as the post says, that isn't entirely his fault.
A lot has changed in Tampa during Godwin's time, and the shift from a team that loves to air the ball out to one that wants to play safe and run has certainly hurt the Buccaneers' WR2.
While Godwin would never be the type of guy to go after his team, it is certainly fair for a family member to question why the facts and statements coming from the head coach contradict the truth of the situation.
Apparently that is what is happening here.
Todd Bowles has never really given a great press conference, especially when most of what he says is very easy to prove wrong and poke holes in, and this only highlights that fact further. If Bowles is saying that Godwin is too banged up to play and pulls him when the truth is contrary to that (in the eye of Godwin and his family), that reflects poorly on communication between the staff and the players.
Regardless of the goal of this post, it is clear that a disconnect is starting to form between Bowles and his players. This probably won't lead to more touches anytime soon, but this does look like another nail in the coffin for the Todd Bowles era if the front office actually cares about keeping players happy and winning.
Buccaneers continue to disappoint in recent loss
Another rough one.
