This has been a tough offseason for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If a lack of money and the departure of Tom Brady wasn't enough, the situation has just become a bit more dire with a trade request that comes out of left field.

This could likely end up working in favor of the Bucs down the road, but a lot of people won't see it that way for a while.

Good or bad, former first-round pick and defensive captain Devin White has requested a trade.

This comes as a bit of a surprise.

White has received almost everything he could want from the Bucs from the start of his tenure in Tampa. From leadership positions to a lack of criticism when it is probably deserved, it is obvious that White won't find many locations that much better than what he has here.

Still, the request has been made, and the Bucs could have to start looking for a replacement for their younger defensive leader if a trade partner is found.

White probably won't have a huge draw due to his price and obvious desire for a major deal, but there are probably some teams out there that will fall in love with his upside and impressive statistical production during his time with the Bucs.

Tampa needs to start planning.
