The process of finding their next offensive coordinator has begun for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After losing Dave Canales to the Carolina Panthers to be their head coach, the Bucs will interview current Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their open job.
Moore is still technically with the Chargers but they’ll grant permission to interview as the coaching staff is overhauled by their new head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Justin Herbert played injured some this season and the year did not go as planned for the Chargers under Brandon Staley most of the way. Before joining the Chargers, Moore was with the Dallas Cowboys for five seasons. After coaching quarterbacks in his first season, Moore spent the rest of his time there as the offensive coordinator.
A former pro quarterback himself, Moore is an intriguing candidate because he was successful as a coordinator at such a young age in the NFL. Moore is still just 35 years old.
Today, Moore will interview for the Browns and their open OC job. Next week he will begin the week with the Tampa Bay organization. These can be in-person interviews with involved teams out of the playoffs.
Expect the Bucs to be smart with this hire. The next playcaller will likely be working with Baker Mayfield, who turned his career around in 2023. It is a pivotal hire for this franchise and should be approached as such.
