Tampa Bay Bay Buccaneers have WR Mike Evans going to the Pro Bowl but there is a fair argument that they should have another joining him.
Antoine Winfield Jr. has had a terrific season for the Buccaneers and Super Bowl Champion Eli Manning is going to bat for him. Manning made it a point that Winfield should be a Pro Bowler on the latest Manningcast on ESPN.
Manning went as far as to say that he was going to leave one of his kids at home to bring Winfield with him to the Pro Bowl as his ‘coach’s pick’.
Atlanta Falcons’ Jessie Bates, Arizona Cardinals’ Budda Baker, and Seattle Seahawks’ Julian Love were the safeties named to the Pro Bowl over Winfield.
Winfield put together a regular season of 122 tackles, six sacks, six forced fumbles, and three interceptions. The star safety put together one of the better defensive seasons we’ve seen from a safety as of late.
In 2023, Winfield set career highs in just about every category. He was a Pro Bowler in his second season in 2021, but he has taken his game to a new level for the Tampa Bay defense. Against the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 12, Winfield recorded a whopping 16 tackles.
The Bucs along with Winfield have bigger goals, as they’re in the midst of a playoff run. But Manning shares the opinion that many people share, with that being that Winfield should be representing the Buccaneers in the Pro Bowl.
