The Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved on from offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich earlier this offseason.

Leftwich, however, might not be out of a job for long.

According to multiple reports, Leftwich is in the mix to become Notre Dame's new offensive coordinator.

The Fighting Irish need a new offensive coordinator after losing Tommy Rees to Nick Saban and Alabama.

Leftwich has never coached in college, so heading to Notre Dame would certainly be an adjustment for him.

The life of a college football assistant coach isn't exactly ideal. There's almost no time off. Any spare time is usually spent either calling recruits, watching film of recruits, or scouring the NCAA transfer portal for potential additions.

But Leftwich needs a job. And serving as the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame certainly isn't a bad gig. If nothing else, Leftwich could parlay the job at Notre Dame into a bigger job next season if he finds some success.

Tampa Bay, by the way, hasn't hired Leftwich's replacement yet. Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher and Georgia Bulldogs offensive coordinator Todd Monken, the Bucs' play caller in 2016 and 2017, are among the coaches in the mix to take over for Leftwich in Tampa.
