The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have seen a number of former players make their way northwest to Kansas City over the last few years.

As it turns out, that move worked out pretty well for them.

Four players from the Buccaneers' 2020 Super Bowl championship squad celebrated on Sunday night after the Chiefs took down the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime to claim Super Bowl LVIII: Donovan Smith, Mike Edwards, Justin Watson, and Blaine Gabbert.

Watson leads the way with his second straight Super Bowl with the Chiefs.  With the victory in Super Bowl LV with the Bucs, that makes his third ring in the last four seasons.  Watson came to the Chiefs as a free agent in February 2022 and signed another one-year contract in April 2023.

Edwards played a key role in the Bucs' Super Bowl run, intercepting Drew Brees in Tampa Bay's 30-20 win in New Orleans.  That continued with the Chiefs, who he signed with in the 2023 offseason.  He was big for the Chiefs' defense on Sunday, totaling 7 tackles with a pass defended against the 49ers.

Two players who protected and backed up Brady in Tampa also earned ring number two.  Donovan Smith played all 79 snaps at left tackle while helping to keep Patrick Mahomes protected.  Blaine Gabbert served as Patrick Mahomes' backup in 2023.

While obviously it's not nearly as good as seeing the men in pewter and red hoist a trophy, it's still nice to see former Buccaneers have success at their next stops.
