Honestly, this makes Evans' career all the more impressive. Not many players have an actual day named after them, even if it's just for a single day. It's completely fitting, as well, considering how much he means to both the Bucs and the community, as a whole.
Evans officially tied Jerry Rice's record of 11 consecutive seasons with 1,000 receiving yards on the final play of the regular season this past Sunday. The final minutes of the game somehow developed to the point where the Bucs had one more possession that gave them a chance at gaining the five-yards Evans needed to hit the 1k mark.
Instead of kneeling and closing out an eight-point lead, the Bucs opted to run a play that gave Evans a chance at making the play and a small risk of something going wrong and the Saints potentially scoring and then attempting the game-tying two-point conversion. It was an awesome moment that showed just how much Todd Bowles and his staff have their players' backs.
