It has been a very rough month for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The word 'embarrassing' should get thrown around a lot.

There is no reason for a team with this much talent to drop this many games in succession, and the most recent loss against the Texans should be the final nail in the coffin for Todd Bowles.

Losing to a rookie quarterback on one of the worst teams in the NFL is bad enough on its own, but the true damaging fact from this game comes from a history that just makes this past weekend look all the worse.

It may have started as a joke between some of the more cynical Bucs fans over the past few years, but the trend with Tampa and young/backup quarterbacks may be more real than we once thought.

Anyone who has followed the Bucs the past few years knows this; you have to be scared of young/backup/rookie quarterbacks. This defense has shut down Patrick Mahomes, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and plenty of other Hall of Famers, but when it comes to a rookie that most people would write off, the results are dramatic in the other direction.

The bend-but-don't break defense that Todd Bowles has brought to Tampa with mountains of success has led to career days for guys that aren't even backups anymore, and the data backs this fact up.

The Bucs being 7-5 against rookies during the Bowles era (as HC and DC) is just incredibly bad, especially when you think about the fact that rookie quarterbacks are rarely playing on good or established teams.

Being almost .500 against this group of players for a defensive head coach is laughably bad, especially when you pride yourself on defense above all else.

We all saw how that worked out this past weekend.

As much as people may be tired of everyone piling on Todd Bowles for the failures of the past two years, it is hard to find a bigger issue with this roster when it comes down to the most impactful weaknesses.

A change is needed in Tampa. It may not happen during the season, but the front office needs to start keeping its options open.
