With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' season completed after their 31-23 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon, attention now turns towards free agency and the draft.
Tampa Bay now knows where they are slotting to make their first-round pick in April. The Bucs are locked into the 26th overall pick.
The Bucs are slotted behind the Rams, Steelers, Dolphins, and Eagles, and Cowboys all of whom fell in the wild card round of the playoffs. The Browns also lost, but their pick belongs to Houston as part of the trade compensation for DeShaun Watson.
The Packers have the same record as the Buccaneers at 9-8 and also lost in the divisional round. However, Green Bay gets the tiebreaker and the 25th pick by virtue of a lower strength of schedule – .474 to Tampa Bay's .481.
The Buccaneers have a number of key free agents to take care of, including Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, Antoine Winfield, Jr., and Lavonte David. As such, the team needs as of now could look a little bit different come draft time after the major wave of free agency gets underway in mid-March.
The Bucs' remaining draft picks after #26 are picks in the second, third, fourth, sixth, and seventh rounds. The Buccaneers and Packers are also tied together in a rotating segment, meaning they will alternate picking in the 25th and 26th spots in each round.
The NFL Draft is being held from April 25-27, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan.
