NASHVILLE — The 2026 NFL Draft is less than two months away. With the Scouting Combine drawn to a close, NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic offered his thoughts on the Tennessee Titans situation with the No. 4 overall pick.
Should Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love be in play?
Dane Brugler’s “theme” for the 2026 NFL Draft
“Just draft good football players, and not talk so much about positional value, talk more about impact value,” Brugler said in an appearance with The Buck Reising Show on 104.5 The Zone. “And I think that’s where a safety like Caleb Downs, or an off-ball linebacker like Sonny Styles, or a running back like Jeremiyah Love, or a pass thrusher with short arms like Reuben Bain, you want the guard from Penn State, one of the best players in this draft. And so I think it’s easy to get caught up in what a top 5, top 10 pick usually looks like, when I think the reality of what this draft is, we need to focus on just impact potential and how these guys can make some of these teams better.”
That might seem counterintuitive for a Tennessee fan, given the Titans glaring needs at edge or wide receiver.
Consider simply the roster that Tennessee general manager Mike Borgonzi is working with at present. Only five Titans players under contract would be viewed as having played definitively “well” to “above average” in 2025. There are simply not enough good football players at any position in Tennessee, so take the chance to add a truly special talent at a position that might be less than premium.
Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love or Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles might be the best players in this draft. If you can get the best football player in the class at No. 4, don’t overthink it.
