Derrick Henry's Future in Tennessee Remains Uncertain
Henry, who has been with the Titans since he was drafted in 2016, is set to become a free agent in March and has a decision to make.
"I haven't really gotten much into it," Henry said of his future during an NFL Network interview with Cameron Wolfe. "Just because it's still a little bit early for me. "But right now just enjoying every moment until that time comes. And when that time comes, dive into that and make a decision."
Since the Titans hired Callahan on Jan. 24, Henry hasn't had the chance to speak with him, however, he's heard great things.
"No, I haven't had any conversations with him," Henry said, "but I've heard good things about him. He's done a great job at Cincy. I talked to Payton [Manning] and he had good things to say about him … so, just see what the future holds and when that time comes we'll see what happens."
Brian Callahan Keeping Door Open for Henry's Return
Money will be a major factor in the 30-year-old running back's future deal and the Titans may not be able to pay him his projected $10 million per year asking price.
But, never say never as Callahan made it abundantly clear that he is keeping the door wide open for Henry to return next season.
"If he is open to a return that fits for us, I’m never going to say no to good players," Callahan said during a recent appearance on 102.5 The Game. "I know that he’s been an incredible leader in this building as well, which also carries a lot of weight. You can find ways to use every player. There’s no offensive system that would say ‘I don’t like to have Derrick Henry here.'"
NFL Free Agency begins on March 11.
